The #BOOKSTASOLIDARITY Project

I first discovered #bookstagram (books + Instagram) towards the end of 2017, and life has never been the same for me ever since. It’s basically an online community full of people from around the globe who share the same passion for books and reading. Opening #bookstagram doors is like finding your way to Narnia, Hogwarts and Middle Earth all at once. The bibliophiles I’ve met have been like a second family to me, and the community is what I would consider as my “digital” home.

As the world stops and locks down due to the pandemic COVID-19, a number of bloggers and influencers have been seen working together to send out their simple but heartfelt messages of moral support to the public, resulting in inspiring collaborative posts. So of course it did not take long for the bookish community to join in.

I’ve teamed up with some of the most awesome bookstagrammers I know to bring you literary messages of HOPE and POSITIVITY during these dark times. Special thanks to Jewel of @foxynerdyrebelle for spearheading this joyful project. We have also decided to enter our photos under #bookstasolidarity (props to the creators of the cool hashtag!) to continue the unified approach. Visit the hashtag in Instagram to see all the creative posts from the community.

Without further ado, here are the photos and quotes we came up with:

“Hope is the thing with feathers. That perches in the soul. And sings the tune without the words. And never stops at all.” — Emily Dickinson

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” — J.K. Rowling

⁣“But in the end it’s only a passing thing, this shadow; even darkness must pass.” — J.R.R. Tolkien

The photos alone show how much energy we bookworms have even in quarantine. I love how the babies and furbabies participated, too. I think my son Elias was more excited than I was 🤣 I just love the positive energy this simple activity has brought me, and I’m hoping we were able to communicate the same to all of you, too. I think that now more than ever it is highly important for us to remain connected with the people and things that bring joy and meaning to our lives. Together, we will get through this crisis.

Here’s the full list of participants from our group! It’s so fun to see how we have all connected from places all over the globe. Check out their pages for gorgeous bookish photos and book reviews:
