The annual World Book Day (April 23) was celebrated this year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Though locked down in their respective community quarantines, the bookworms were not to be stopped in celebrating the occasion — mainly by participating in book challenges, readathons (reading marathons), and other collaborative bookish pursuits that one can do at home. As for myself, I’ve decided to join in on the fun of dressing up as my favorite book covers. I have seen this #BooksAsOutfits a.k.a. #DressLikeABookCover trend in both Twitter and Instagram but it took my favorite bookstore’s challenge for the day for me to decide to finally go for it.
First up is Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado. I love artsy, minimalist covers like this one. The writing is feminist, experimental and rebellious. I love it!
Second entry is A Separation by Katie Kitamura — one of my auto-recommendations if anyone wants to know my favorite underrated books. You can read my full review here.
Lastly, Milkman by Anna Burns — reading and enjoying this one as of this writing. I love the narrator’s seemingly random ramblings interspersed with moments of wisdom and lucidity.
I don’t know much about clothes and I have never been fashion-forward so I was surprised to find it was so easy and fun to match my favorite covers with my minimalist wardrobe. This is definitely one trend that was worth the try!
Do you have any favorites from my attempts? Do leave a comment and let me know how I did in this challenge! Happy weekend! 💕
I hadn’t heard of any of these books 😮. All of your outfits matched great, but your dress for A Separation looks almost identical to the cover 😍! Have a happy weekend, Princess 😄!

Hard for me to pick between the first two but the second might win because of the perfect colour combo.

really well thought out and a lot better what we did when my son was at school, we just dressed him up in old clothes and made a Golden ticket and he went as Charlie Bucket form Charlie and the Choclate Factory, whcih was some classic slack parnting skills. by the way I have nominated you for the mystery blogger award http://nottsreader.blog/2020/05/18/the-mystery-blogger-award/
