“Where is human nature so weak as in the bookstore?” π± Henry Ward
Sorry it took me weeks to even begin this post. I know it’s already mid-March so why am I still talking about my February haul!? Well, only because this is the MOST NUMBER OF BOOKS I have ever bought in a month π Last February, as a fellow bookworm has said, the gods and goddesses of books smiled down upon us Filipinos and granted us with epic book sales left and right β¨ I’m talking about up to 90% OFF regular prices! It was an awesome opportunity for readers, artists, teachers, collectors and practically all kinds of bibliophiles.
First up is the Powerbooks Clearance Sale. They put up books at 60-80% off. My husband brought me there for our Valentine date πΉ The titles I got have been on my wishlist for so long. Links to Goodreads are below if you want to check them out. I actually went back and got two more titles, but I will share those on my March haul post.
π·Commonwealth by Ann Patchett
π·Please Look After Mom by Kyung-Sook Shin
π·Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly
π·Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire SΓ‘enz
π·NOS4A2 by Joe Hill
π·S (Ring #5) by KΕji Suzuki
Next is my Big Bad Wolf haul! They are like a travelling bookstore here in Asia. They filled up a huge venue with books at 50-90% off. They were only in the country for a few weeks but they were open 24/7!
From their Facebook page:
Big Bad Wolf Books (The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale or BBW Books) is a Malaysian book fair frequently held in Malaysia, Thailand Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The books were majorly taken from the stocks of BookXcess, a book store dealing in excess or remaindered books from international distributors. The Sale was the brainchild of BookXcess founders Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng. It was first held on 13β18 May 2009 for 5 days at Dataran Hamodal, Petaling Jaya.
The book fair sells all kind of books genres, for example fiction, non-fiction, novels, literature, children’s literature and young adult fiction. It also sells merchandise including collectible books and posters, wallpaper, movie posters, tin-plated signs and their own merchandise.

Only in Big Bad Wolf will I ever need a shopping cart to buy books!! Unfortunately I could not afford everything on this cart but I did go home with a total of 15 books (including children’s books for my son). Below are the links to Goodreads if you want to check them out:
π·A Room of One’s Own and Three Guineas by Virginia Woolf
π·What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver
π·NW by Zadie Smith
π·Swing Time by Zadie Smith
π·Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
π·The World of Poo by Terry Pratchett
π·What is Not Yours is Not Yours by Helen Oyeyemi
π·Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore
π·Stay with Me by Ayα»ΜbΓ‘mi AdΓ©bΓ‘yα»Μ
π·Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward
π·The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware
π·Let Me Tell You by Shirley Jackson
Next up is my National Bookstore Book Blowout haul. It’s another huge sale with up to 80% off. My visit was a really awesome one but only because I got to meet my lovely BGPH Titas from our book club (I talked more about the Titas on my previous post).

I actually had a bad experience with NBS Customer Service but I won’t go into the details here. I think a lot of Pinoy bookworms who availed of their online sale would know what I’m pertaining to *wink wink roll eyes* I don’t have a photo of the books, but below is a summary. Click on the links for their Goodreads pages.
π·Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill
π·Darius the Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram
π·Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver
Others:

π· Si Dru at ang Kuwento ng Limang Kaharian by Clara Ng: got this from my visit to Adarna House
π·Vicious by V.E. Schwab: adopted from a fellow book club member
π·Nightfall by Eliza Victoria: from my Komiket Haul
π· Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: from my Valentine Book Exchange
π·Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontΓ«: from my Valentine Book Exchange
π·What About Today by Dawn Lanuza: from Anvil Online Sale

And that’s it! My heart is so full of joy looking back π Thanks for sharing the experience with me. I will leave you now with a photo of the complete book haul tower before I go back to reading. My TBR is waiting for me π

Oh my word!! What great sales…don’t think there’s anything like that here in HK…boohoo
