My mom not only taught me how to read, she taught me to love reading. We spent so many hours and days reading romance pocket books that we rent or trade from the local market, and even though we had very little money she let me visit bookstores just to appreciate the many possibilities of countless stories. Sometimes she would even let me buy one, whichever is cheapest 😄 She started my obsession with books and never judged me for spending my meager allowance on second hand books, and eventually spending my meager income on brand new books. She gave me a safe space to love stories, and in doing so she let me know myself better, have more confidence, and learn so much outside of school and the workplace. ⁣
