It seems like a lifetime ago when I posted the first part of My Big Bad Wolf Haul 2020. So many things have happened since then, and I honestly feel like a different person altogether. Even though it has been months already, please allow me to still fulfill my promise of sharing the second part of my haul, plus it’s a great way to reminisce the happy days when we can still all go outside.
What made our second visit special was the fact that we won one of the daily photo challenges hosted by Big Bad Wolf. I believe the prize was a voucher worth Php700, and with that amount one can already get 2-3 books because everything was on sale and with huge discounts. This was the winning photo:

We ended up going home with these:
A super cool anatomy book for my son. We spent a lot of our quarantine days just reading this.
Adult coloring books. Aside from the fact that coloring is therapeutic and relieves stress, I secretly want to learn how to draw or paint flowers (not-so-secret now!) and I figured this would help me at least familiarize with the lines and the colors. As it turns out, the illustrations are too pretty and I’m a bit afraid to color them in. I’ve only managed to color a few pages so far. But I promise I will practice more.

I also got some of the most beautiful books on my shelves now–

By this time, I’ve already read and enjoyed The Binding by Bridget Collins and If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio. The Binding is a beautifully told love story, albeit a bit slow. If We Were Villains is a delicious dark academia novel featuring some of the most unforgettable flawed characters in fiction.
Memory Wall by Anthony Doerr is a collection of short stories, and I thought it would be a great introduction to his works. Though I already have a copy of his more popular book All the Light We Cannot See, somehow I haven’t found the right moment to read it yet. Needless to say, I have high expectations for this author.

That’s it! Writing this really made me miss going out for bookish events. Especially since September in Manila is supposed to be the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) season. I blogged about how epic last year’s fair was here.
It’s so easy to get sad for all the things lost, but I’m not giving up hope on things getting better. For now, I’m just grateful to have the privilege of staying safe at home during a pandemic.
I hope you’re all having a great weekend! It’s actually my husband’s birthday today, so I will probably be in food coma until tomorrow.
Stay safe and stay healthy! 🧡

I used to go to MIBF, too! Is it happening this year? Your choices were lovely. Those covers are stunning. And the anatomy book for the little one is the best!
